It is found in the centre of Alberta, extending through the centre of Saskatchewan and slightly south of centre Manitoba.
They have warm and short summers ( 17 degrees Celsius), and long, cold winters ( -20 degrees Celsius). The Rocky Mountains block as much of the moisture, resulting in precipitation of 300mm - 450 mm.
Animals
These are only a few of the many animals that can be found in the Boreal Plains, there are many more different types of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish, insects, etc.
Plants
Much of the Boreal Plains is covered with coniferous and deciduous forests.
